Phyz closed a big gap from a slow beginning. Gondolus finished well, as also did James J. Corbett. El Donoso and Jennie F. showed early speed and ipiit badly. Willie t!regg showed early speed, but failed to stay and the same applies to Inspector Halpin, which was poorly ridden. Colonel Bron-ston was in active contention throughout and, while racing closely with Piquet, interfered with the latter seriously, then drew out and won eased up, but was disqualified and the race given to Piquet, with Hockey second and Belasco third. Piquet, suddenly improved, ran well throughout and finished resolutely. Rockey ran to his best form. Belasco was poorly ridden and can do better. Ossian quit badly. The latter was knocked back at the start and closed a big gap, but tired from the effort. Mrs. Bob was going fast at the eud. Smithy Kane did bis usual fast half mile and retired.
