Tom Dolan,, a quick beginner, rushed to the front at once and, opening a winning lead on the far turn, Nlcol had him well In hand all of the last furlong and he was only cantering at the finish. Merry Leap Year, quick to begin, was the closest contender all the way, but was never dangerous. Lady Mala saved ground on tiie turn into the homestretch and wore Jack Lee down in the last eighth. The latter made up much ground. Captain Hale went wide on the turn for home, losing three or four lengths. Romping Sister, green at the post, left the barrier all mixed up, but came fast when she got settled in her stride. Doc Kyle is a good looker. Thora Lee ran to her true form, broke with the leaders and raced first Gilfaiu and then Labor into defeat, opened up- a winning lead on the turn out of the backstretch and was well in hand all of the last furlong. Rian Iegan slowly, but closed a big gap and .outgamed Labor when it came to the final drive. The latter ran to his best form. Gravina was carried wide on the first turn and1 could never -get up. Gilfaln showed great speed for the first half and then quit, the track probably being too hard for his dickey legs. Jack Dolan was along in lehind Massive until straightened out for the final run, where lie moved up and took command quickly, drawing away at the end and winning as his rider pleased. Debar slipped through on the inside on the turn into the homestretch and outgamed Massive under a drive. The latter set a fast pace, but could not maintain it and tired in the last sixteenth. Monterey was well in baud through the last eghth, was in Hie middle of the track most of the trip and lost ground by going a bit wide on the turn for home. Jack Dolan was worked out a mile in 1:413. Pirate was well ridden and ke-it right at it for the entire trip, raced Ohio King and John E. Owens into defeat in the first turn of the field and outlasted Wild Range when it came to the final drive. Wild Range moved up fast when going to the ninth jump and appeared like the winner when straightened out for the filial run, but tired in the last sixteenth. John E. Owens ran his rate. Dayton was bard at work on Chara-wind most of the trip. Chanley lacked speed. Little Wallv fell at the eighth jnmp. Begonia was always close up, moved up when called on and, racing Gold Coin into subjection, drew away in the last quarter and was well in hand at the finish. Granada began slowly, but made up a lot of ground on the far turn and, finishing fast, outgamed Gold Coin. The latter showed much the most early snecd but could not last the route. Pat Bulger came through on the inside on the turn into me Homestretch and made a determined effort, but was probably a bit short and tired. Rickey retired alter going a halt mile. The latter was outrun in the earlr stages, but closed up with a rush, on the far turn, where lie went around on the outside, then swerved over to the inside in the last sixteenth. Free Booter finished fast and shook off Lacache in. the stretch ,le ,latt showed much speed until on the turn Into the homestretch.
