LATONIA FAVORITES FAIL. RALBERT THE ONLY SUCCESSFUL CHOICE AT THE KENTUCKY TRACK. Content and Lady Navarre Go to Now York Minnie Adams Arrives at Louisvillo Fred Cook Loses a Promising Youngster. Cincinnati, O., June 20. A deep and heavy track and a program made up. of six selling races and one handicap afforded little better than perfunctory racing at Latonia today. The crowd, however, was a big one. The majority of the winners came from among the least considered, Ralbert being the only pronounced favorite to win. The victory of Little Elkln, an outsider with some 25 to 1 quoted against him, was a lucky one and came as a big surprise to the betting fraternity. St. Tammany was best, but lost because of Nicols overconfidence. A number of horses will be shipped to New York tomorrow morning in a special car. In the lot will be Content and Lady Navarre and J. P. May-berrys Robin Hood, Quinn Brady and Evic Greene. Jockey Morris has been suffering for some time from boils and his riding has been below par in consequence. James Arthur decided today to keep him on the ground until he gets well. Charles McMeekin, owner of the Oakwood Stud, Lexiugton, Ky., was a visitor at the track en route to New York. Mr. McMeekin, in company with J. E. McDonald, of New York, will sail on Saturday for a six weeks trip to England. While on the other side he will buy one or two thoroughbred stallions if he finds anything that suits him. The horses comprising the strings of J. U. Strode and J. Dealy and Co. were hipped to Windsor tonight .AYandereith.eyjffiJiJi " ing. Jockey Nicols contract with his present employer, Fred Cook, will expire August 14. Nicol, however, has not contracted with any other owner and will probably remain in the west. It is likely that he will renew the cntract with Cook. Fred Cook received word today that Minnie Adams had arrived In good condition at Churchill Downs, where she will be rested until fall. Gene Lutz, a three-year-old that Cook thought highly of, died at Louisville this morning after being castrated. Jockey Minder left today for Windsor, where he will ride.
