JJEW YORK STARTS IN TWO RACES AT SALEM. Wins One and Finishes Second in the Other Holds Track Record for the Mile. Salem, N. H.. July 7. G. L. Richards seven-vear-oid horse. New York, started in loth the first and fourth races at Rockingham Park today. He finished a fairly good second to Ostrich in the first it seven furlongs and then went out and won the handicap, the feature of the card, running the mile hi 1 :, a new traek record. The seven furlongs race was only a warm up for Xew York. In the handicap Penrhyn made the pace to the half mile post, when New York assumed the lead and won with two lengths to spare. Palette was a good second, two lengths In front of Penrhyn. The latter faded away when turning for home and thereafter was never a factor. Oxford could never get "suniuef H.a!HarrIs furnished the closest finish of the day. winning by a neck over Gloriosa.
