Frank Flesher, well handled, broke fully in motion, kept close company with the leaders in the early stages and, responding well to punishment in the final furlong, outgamed AVebber through the last sixteenth. AVebber ran a good race and was right there all the way. Uelmuth also showed improved form, but was favored by racing luck. Poster Girl got away in a tangle and closed a gap, but had scant chance with the start. Lady Aimont was also away too poorly to cut any figure in the result. Wee Lass was away in a forward position and, assuming the lead at once, raced the early contenders into subjection and won well in hand. The Laurel broke in a tangle and had to overcome a lot of interference, came wide into the stretch and was going fast at the end. Maverick began slowly and finished with a great burst of speed. Stillhunt tired suddenly under poor handling in the final strides and should have been second. Scotch Dance ran a good race tinder strong handling. Alma Dufonr, in her present form, was much the best and, aided by a skillful ride, wore down Shawana in the final furlong and won well in hand. Shawana showed a high order of speed and stayed well in the final drive. Hsrry Scott closed a big gap steadily from a poor beginning and finished going fast. John L. Inglis was close up in the early running, but tired badly after going three-quarters. Marshal Xey ran a fairly good race. Tom Roberts can do better. Major T. J. Braden, away well and skillfully handled, was reserved in the early running and. culled on strongly on the stretch turn, responded gamely to a hard drive, gradually wearing down Lady Ksther in the final strides. The latter forced a fast pace all the way, raced Meadowbreeze into subjection and stojl the final drive well. John Carroll, much the best, was sharply cut off soon after the start and. when going fast in the stretch and wearing the leaders down, Xicol had to pull him back when Braden bore over, then finished going fast and would have won in a few more strides. Lens, hard ridden all Hie way, seemed to tire badly on the stretch turn, but came again and wore down Delia Thorpe in the -closing drive. Delia Thorpe ran forwardly from the start and seemed a certain winner in the stretch, buf tired unexpectedly. Royal Bond broke fully In motion and showed a brief flash of speed. Queen Caroline was rushed into a long lead from the start and, maintaining it for the entire trip, held tiie others safe all the way and won with plenty in reserve. Bitter Brown moved up steadily all the way and finished going fast The Only AVay was crowded repeatedly and ran a good race. Cygnet had no mishaps and tired fast after going three-quarters. Bullfinch closed a big gap from a slow beginning and ran a f ilrly good race. Dr. Turner ran poorly and can do better. Mayor Johnson had a rough trip and was epeaedly bumped Into. Dudley had to go wide all the way and was bumped repeatedly by Capitano. The latter ran a fairly good race, Proteus was caught in a jam after passing the half.
