NOT AS PERSONS, BUT AS OFFICERS. "There appears to be some misunderstanding abroad regarding the late William Hendrles connection with the English Jockey Club," says Pop in the Toronto Sunday World. "While he was the first in Canada to hold the honor of honorary membership of that distinguished and aristocratic body, the honor was only his as president of the Ontario Jockey Club, and will go to his successor and to the next president after him all -down the line, unless the authorities at home take rescinding action or reform their own method of doing things. The honorary members of the Jockey Club are not the persons, lint the officers of the various racing organizations that follow: The steward of Ascot, appointed by His Majesty; the stewards of the Turf. Club. Ireland; the president of the French Jockey Club; the vice-president of the French Jockey Club; the three stewards of the French Jockey Club; the president of the Jockey Club, New York; the chairman of the committee of the Victoria Racing Club; the chairman of the committee of the Australian Jockey Club; New South Wales, and the president of the Ontario Jockey Club. In like manner, it Is not Mr. Belmont who is honorary member of the English Jockey Club, but the president of the Jockey Club of New York."
