RAY AND OWENS IN A MIXUP. After the races were over last Saturday, Ray and Owens, the steeplechase jockeys, met on the road outside of Brighton Beach track. Owens had claimed foul against Ray, declaring to the stewards that Hylas had carried Jimmy Lane into the wing at the last fence, causing him to jump badly and Owens to lose his seat. This was denied by Ray: When they met outside of the track Owens, it Is said, renewed the claim. This was followed by a setto with fists and boots in which Owens is said to have come out second best. The fact that they fought outside of the track lnclosure saved them from discipline at the hands of the stewards.
