Olive Leaf began quickly and was a forward contender all the way, carried Ancient Witch along at a clip that made the latter quit after they had gone six furlongs and had enough to stall off Lutie Macs challenge at the end. Lutle Mac. repeatedly Interfered with in the first five furlongs, was in a iocket until straightened out for the final run, closed up with a great burst of speed in the last furlong and displayed rare courage in the final drive. Paul Deering finished resolutely under punishment. Chancellor Walworth went well. Vestryman ran poorly. Toots was a false alarm and ran a bad race. Chanida. outrun In the early stages, wore the leaders down while rounding the turn into the homestretch and, finishing with a great rush under punishment in the last sixteenth, was going away at the end. Bell-the-Cat met with interference on the first turn, where he was buffeted about, but ran well and outstayed Chief Deputy when It came to a drive. The latter broke In motion anil sprinted away into a good lead in the first furlong, but tired in the stretch run. AVisbard allowed Bendlgo to swerve in behind the leaders iu the stretch run and he would have been a contender but for this. Oak Leaf and Henry Ach showed early speed. Shineon ran his race, was outrun for the first half, but wore Governor Orman down in the last quarter and outlasted him under a drive. Governor Ormau was much used in following the fast pace set by the winner and tired. The others were outclassed. AVexford. under a good ride, ran to bis best form, rated along in behind Peter Paul for the first six furlongs, slipped through ou the Inside on the turn Into the homestretch, outgamed Peter Paul when It came to the final drive anil was drawing away in the last dozen strides. Peter Paul showed a sudden return to good form and, favored by light weight, set a fast pace, but tired under punishment. Bon Mot displayed rare gameness under a territic drive and finished fast after going to the outside at the eighth posr. Glimmer began quickly and sprinted away in the first furlong and opened a winning lead, was unnecessarily sent to a drive when making the turn into the homestretch to stall off Pedros challenge, but had a bit left at the end when Mary Custls made her effort. The latter had to work her way up on the outside and lost ground by making a wide turn into the stretch and tired in the Hnal drive. Pedro furnished keen contention for the first half, moved up while rounding the far turn and made a lold challenge when entering the home stretcli. Miss Lhla finished pulling up. St. Clair and Ecclesiastic left the post under restraint and were caught iu a jam. . . Scratched k!S54 Imposition, 10. Overweights Ecclesiastic, 4 pounds. Lady Jocelyn showed the most early speed In the first part of the race, but tired In the stretch run. Miss Hawley ran- in improvlug form, had no mishaps and was doing her best to gtall oft the rush of Joe Levy at the end. The latter ran well and finished gamely. Townes went fairly well.
