Martha Jane, away poorly, closed an immense gap and got up in the last stride of a fast stretch run. Winning Star practically set the pace to the last couple of strides before she succumbed and was carried very wide on the stretch turn, but for which she would have won. Marbles broke badly and closed an early gap like a Hash, but ran out on the last turn, then finished gamely after losing much ground. Baroda broke slowly, but came through" fast on the inside and but for interference in the stretch would have been third. Night Mist set a stiff pace to midway of the stretch, but ran to the outside on the last turn and tired in the closing drive. Mrs. OFarrell finished fast on the inside. Miss Delaney, awav very badly, closed an immense gap. The winner was entered for 1,000; no bid. Scratched 703C0 Montbort, 94. Overweights Camiile M., 2 pounds; Dixie Gold. 2. Knight of Elway, after going the first quarter, was always in nearest pursuit of the winner and ran a superior race. Dunseverrlck displayed speed and good fencing for two miles, but tired iinallv.
