BALLOTS NARROW TRIUMPH DEFEATS BROOKDALE NYMPH BY INCHES IN EDGEMERE STAKES. Royal Tourists Oakdale Handicap Thistle-dale Wins the Queensboro Steeplechase Grapple an Easy Winner, r New York, November 9. Ballot won the chief feature sit Aqueduct today, but had very little to spare in his victory over Brookdale Nymph and he lias never been more completely straight in any of his winning races. lie was always the choice in the betting and went to the post with 2 to 5 quoted. Ncalon closed at 4 to I aud Brookdale Nymph, the only other starter, was the second choice with 2 to 1 her price. Nealon at no time was a contender, but P.rookdale Nymph knt the ICeene crack very busy for every furlong of the mile and an eighth. Dugan took her into the lead at tin- rise of the barrier and, by skillfully rating her in that position, had plenty left when the long stretch was reached. Notter made his move on Itallot three rurlongs from the finish and the colt moved up resolutely, but Brookdale Nymph still had plenty in reserve and he was forced to a drive to reach her. A furious from the finish Ballot swerved over to the Whitney Ally and Notter was forced to put up his whip and depend upon a hand ride. The Voter colt responded gamely to this urging and finally got up in time to win by a short head. Nealon was beaten off by Iirookdale Nymph and was at no time a contender. Kialto made the pace, hut swung wide when coming into the stretch and Koyal Tourist, closely hugging the rail on the turn, saved much ground. At the end Koyal Tourist had almost three lengths to spare, while Itialto, in a drive, saved second place from Doranlc.
