YOUNG COTTON WANTS TO RIDE. W. E. Cotton, who owns a string of horses at Oakland in partnership with W. E. Applegate, has a fourteen-year-old son who is trying to persuade his father to permit him to ride in races this winter. The youngster only weighs ninety pounds and in Iiis work in exercising horses for the past month, gives considerable promise of making a good jockey and future horseman, if he gains his fathers consent to ride.
