Phalanx, after being reserved prominently under a pull, drew out on the fa? turn, but tired in the final strides. Progress, from an indifferent start, closed up rapidly and only succumbed after a game stretch drive. The Reprobate showed superior speed for six furlongs. Netting finished well up. Elizabeth F., after being reserved in forward contention in the early running, drew out decisively midway of the stretch. Orcban set the pace after going the first quarter and seemed the winner until near tha end, where he succumbed. Nabonassar was a prominent contender to the final sixteenth. Byrouerdale, away badly, steadily improved his position and made a cyclonic finish. The Captain, shuffled repeatedly to the. rear, closed a big gap and the same applies to Miss May Bowdish and Lone Wolf. Prince Nap showed superior early speed, but was short and tired badly. Jack Nnmiiilly, from a lucky striding start, drew out on the baekstretch and made the running until straightened for home, then swerved all over the stretch, losing the lead, but came again right at the end and got up in the last stride. Montgomery, away very badly,, worked through a rough Inside journey and, m ving up rapidly, found a lucky opening on the last turn and drew out like the winner midway of the stietcii, but tired Dually as if a triUe short. Acrobat also suffered at .the start and closed steadily, but Hay bumped and carried wide in the stretch by the leader and linished a game third Dually. Johnny Lyons, from a Hying start, maintained close pursuit of the leaders, but went wide on the last turn and rucciiuibed in the closing drive. Janeta, nearly left, got into forward contention at the half, hut was badly messed about and jostled back and linished close up in a cracking effort. Arimo was never dangerous. Veil was unable to raise a respectable gallop, but got away badly. Senator Warner showed brilliant speed for seven furlongs. Scratched 7147". Uncle, 10.". Gene Russell dropped quickly out of contention and linished a distant third, but was unlit and is north watching. San Oil displayed superior speed to the stretch, where lie tired as if short. Fleming, away very h::dly. ran around on the- extreme outside and just failed for third place in a whirlwind stretch sprint. Prcjuieio, away slowly, made up ground steadily and was a close up fifth.
