NOTES OF THE TURF. Jockey R. Harris, who has been riding at the half-mile track at New Orleans, has been granted a license to ride at the big tracks, where he will confine his riding for the rest of the winter. The horses J. J. Ogles brought to New Orleans from San Antonio were Foxhall, Bob May, Earl of Leicester and Cam Pan. Foxhall has won a number of races on the Texas circuit. The others did not win any. An entry made by Thomas II. Williams In a race at Oakland last Monday was thrown out. When Mr. Williams was informed of it he remarked facetiously, "I think I will have to ship my stable to Arcadia." John Hynes reports that Julia Powcl and Miss Norfolk, which he is wintering at his nursery farm near Stamford, Conn., for W. B. Jennings, are doing well and predicts a good future for Julia Powel as a three-year-old.
