QUEER AUSTRALIAN DERBY RACING. The Australian Jockey Club Derby at Sidney, which was won by Mountain Kiug, was run in such slow time, says the Sidney Mail, that if the race had been run tit a suburban meeting the jockeys would have been suspended. That paper says the seven best riders in Australia had mounts in the rate, and all of them displayed so little knowledge of pace that the first half mile was run in ."S seconds and the mile time was close to two minutes. Mountain King ran the last half mile in 4SJ, and was one of the two native bred . winners of the meeting. All the other races were won by horses either Imported or acknowledging imported parentage. One of the imported winners, Antonio, by Prisoner, carried 13:; pounds, and ran a mile and a quarter iu 2:0GJ. This is only three-quarters of a second outside the Australian record, which was made by Hova, with only 93 pounds up.
