EARNINGS OF THIRTY LEADING AMERICAN STABLES DURING THE PAST SIX YEARS . Recapitulation of the earnings of the thirty principal American racing stables during the last half-dozen years reveals no change in the make-up of the list of leaders since its previous publication ill Daily Racing Form a year or more ago. While there have been numerous changes in the relative standing of the fortunate thirty during the interim, none of those owners who have come to the front of late have as yet been able to roll up a total suliiciently large to break into the charmed circle of the big winners. James It. Keene still heads the list with a total of ,278,118 to show for the achievements of the magnificent collection of racers of his own breeding that have carried the Keene colors so valorously in recent years. At the last publication of the list, Mr. Keene had not reached the million mark. Harry Payne Whitney has displaced Sydney Paget, who no longer figures in American racing, for second place. As set forth upon the -occasion of the previous publication of the list, the Whitney total should really be 00,107 greater, as that amount credited to H. B. Duryea in 1904 represented the earnings of the Owner. 1903. 1904. J. R. Keene 0,150 04,30S H. P. Whitney S. Paget 77,185 i3.:,307 I!. Schreiber 44,095 07,559 A. Belmont 75.50S 12,170 J. K. Barney Schreiber, the principal western owner figuring in the list, retains fourth position, but has only a slight lead over August Belmont, whose splendid showing in 1908 advanced him several places. John Madden made the greatest gain of all, and now stands well up. S. C. Hildreth is another owner who has climbed close to the top and he is still climbing. Of those whose names still appear in the list, but who are not now represented on the tuf. Captain S. S. Brown is dead; Sydney Paget is in England; Bur-lew and ONeill are in France, while E. It. Thomas, Edward Corrigan, C. R. Ellison. John A. Drake. Frank J. Farrell and George C. Bennett have relinquished active participation in racing. Barney Schreiber, Edward Corrigan. C. R.
