HORSES BURNED AT TULSA. Toboggan, Keene Castoff and a Frequent Winner, Among the Victims of Flames. Tulsa, Okla., July 21. In a fire which destroyed fifty-five stalls at the Fair Grounds, Pat Ornns, Toboggan and Flying Smile, three selling platers, were burned to death, while several other horses were injured. The fire caught in the stall of Restitution, and the opinion Is that it was the work of an incendiary. Pat Ornus and Toboggan were owned by W. H. Schwartz of New Orleans, and Flying. Smile by J. Ratcliff of San Marcos, Texas. The running meeting now going on here will be prolonged nine days for the benefit of the horsemen who lost by the tire. Toboggan, one of the horses burned, was a useful racer on western tracks for several seasons, beginning with 1900. He was a castolf of the powerful James R. Keene stable and was a horse of high speed, but was troubled with bad underpinning. It was in the colors of S. W!. Streett that he ran his winning races. Ho was second to Irish Lad in the Metropolitan Handicap in 1904, in which Beldame. Highball. Stalwart and other good horses finished behind him.
