CELT IS IN BAD CONDITION. Ocean Bound May Race at Saratoga After All Gossip from the Spa. Saratoga, N. Y., July 28. Celt is undoubtedly in bad condition. lie has been out on tlie track every day since his arrival here, but his exercises have been limited to trotting and cantering. There is an ominous thickening of his right foreleg about and above the pastern joint, and to a casual observer his racing days appear to be over. Asked tills evening if there was any truth in the rumor that the horse would be retired, James Rowe said: "That is something 1 am unable to answer. It will depend on circumstances, but .Mr. Keene will have to decide. I am not doing anything with him. He gets light exercise, but that is all." tcean Bound worked a half today in 51. She moved with a choppy gait, but pulled up without showing signs of lameness and walked away firmly. It is quite certain that if she stands another and stronger work before next Tuesday, she will be a starter in the Spinaway Stakes. Woodford Clay hopes to send her to the post for that event and also for the Special. John Sanford has candidates for the Spinaway and Special which are expected to be strong contenders in those events. They have shown enough to convince the trainers that they are speedy. Their real quality is as yet a stable secret. Charles Hughes predicts that western horses will beat the representatives of eastern stables here just as they have been doing at Yonkers. lie brought three two-year-olds, one of which is conceded to he extremely speedy. The outlook for the meeting here is very promising. The track was never in better order, while the grounds and surroundings look more beautiful than ever before. James Rowe says: "It Is the grandest race course in the world." The Canfield clubhouse will not lie opened this summer. Proprietors of other clubs are putting their establishments in order.
