AIM IN OPENING SARATOGA FIELD, New York, July 2S. :Tlie announcement that betting will not be permitted in tlie field enclosure at Saratoga has removed the last vestige of objection to tlie opening of that part of the grounds to which the public is admitted for a nominal fee. Saratoga lias a big population of lovers of racing and tilt; surrounding towns have always been intensely interested in the thoroughbred. This love? of the siKrt is not confined to those who can well afford the expense of a day in the grandstand and the paddock and in previous years the field enclosure has always attracted a goodly crowd. It has never been a betting crowd and the association intends to bring the sport within the reach of this class of patrons. During the month of August the race track at Saraioga is the one lasting and ever popular entertainment, and to bring it within the reach of all is the desire of the Saratoga Association. An excellent view of the races is had from the field enclosure jaud there, more than at any other course, the field attendance is one that turns out for the lacing itself. They shout just as lustily for this or that horse as those on the other side of the fence and extract just as keen an enjoyment out of the contests as any on the grounds.
