TENNESSEES LEGISLATIVE MOVEMENT. Memphis. Tenn.. July 28. The movement for a rpecial session of tlie Tennessee legislature to consider the modification of certain represslonary legislation enacted in the past few years arises from the feneral disappointment over the result of attempts to enforce the statewide prohibition law, coupled with the Impression that as much If not more racetrack betting is going on now through the medium of poolrooms and handbooks. Members of the reform set in Memphis are said to have come around to the view that a new law to regulate the alleged evils will be lietlor than the present ones calling for absolute suppression. Governor Patterson was and remains a lifelong niemlier of the New Memphis Jockey Club. Although he signed the bill that put the Memphis and other Tennessee clubs out of business. lie was openly against the move, always maintaining that Tennessee should be one of the last states to frown on racing.
