WHY REDFERN IS SEEKING A LICENSE. New York, July 28. Arthur Redfern, whose application for a license to ride was recently tabled by the Jockey Club, has not been in Uie saddle for several years on account of inability to make the American weights. He announced recently that lie intended to resume riding in England, and it was on that account that be sought a renewal of his license in this country. After his retirement from the saddle he was connected with C. E. Durnell. who is in disfavor, with the eastern turf governors. His Durnell affiliations may be responsible for the holding up of the license.
