JACK ATKIN OVER HIS INJURIES. Saratoga. X. Y., August 20. Harney Schreibors great sprinter. Jack Atkin, is himself again, after having been on the shelf for a week or two as the result of injuries received In a race during the early part of the Saratoga meeting. ISy keeping Jack Atkins injured legs in hot baths for several days after he was hurt, trainer John Powers got the soreness out of them. Jack Atkin was on the truck yesterday and galloped three-eighths of a mile without showing symptoms of soreness. He will not, however, race again at this meeting. Powers will be satistied if he is able to get him into condition to run three or four races at Slieepshead Bay and Cravesend. Because of the condition of Jack Atkin, Powers will ship to Slieepshead Hay at the end of this week. Powers is getting ready for racing Golden Pearl, a four-year-old by Golden Garter Pearl V.. and Philander, a son of Ben Brush. Powers bought Golden Pearl from the stable of Jack Joyner last fall, and Philander from James It. Keene. He took the two horses to California last winter, and up to the time Golden Pearl bowed a tendon training at Santa Anita he considered the Golden Garter colt the fastest runner on the Pacific coast. . Golden Pearl has not raced In the east this year, hut he has been galloping, and Powers believes that he will race successfully.
