Uatfooted at the start, made a quick recovery and, after forward pursuit, drew out decisively on the stretch turn and won off finally. Rubia Granda. placed under a pull well up, had a rough journey, but ran into a clear course in the stretch and was a fast going second. Footpad, away very badly, steadily Improved his position and, closing a big gap, got up for third place in the last stride. Taboo began so slowly as to have been nearly left and closed an immense gap. AVaponoca, pulling up at the start, made up much ground. Blue Tie, after early prominence, was shuttled back on the stretch turn and finished well. Oeorge AV. Lebolt ran in nearest attendance under a pull for five furlongs, then quit badly and was s-qiieczed out on the turn. Joe Gaitens ran a poor race. Lilypad set the early pace and quit ladly. The Fad drew out Immediately and spreadeagled the others under a pull to the stretch, but tired in the closing drive and was palpably short. Loco, from a striding start, was shuttled back early, hut closed up rapidly on the outside in the last three furlongs and just failed to get up. Hampton Court broke poorly and was rushed excessively to nearest and strenuous pursuit of the pacemaker and tired, but finished gamely. Baron Dieskau ran forwardly and gamely throughout. Nethermost, always in forward pursuit of the pacemaker, loomed up menacingly on the turn, but bolted to the outside in the stretch, then was a fast going second. J. II. Reed ran prominently and persistently throughout. Black Hawk trailed to the half and, leing crowded out and pocketed, could never get up "and quit finally. Gloriole ran well up to the stretch and tired badly. Rillemau ran In brief early contention and dropped to the rear at the half. Beckon showed speed for live furlongs. Gliding Belle drew out quickly and made the running for a miie and an eighth, but tired and succumlcd right at the end. The Peer ran in forward pursuit for a mile and an eighth and tired in the closing drive. Nadzu was hopelessly outpaced from start to finish.
