Usually when an entry is backed it means a coupled entry of two or more horses, but not necessarily. The liookmaker accepted that bet. it won. and he should pay it. When one backs a single horse of a coupled entry, bis wager is decided by the running of that horse, and If it chances to be scratched he has a draw, regardless of where the. other horse of the entry finishes. However, the practice is not uniform and some haiulbookers pay such wagers as yours, but do not allow tint .draw.-
