MCCLELLAND MAY PURCHASE SAILOR HOT SPRINGS Ark April 5 Even with Eternal and Tilt Wanderer to rely upon for the Kentucky Derby James W McClelland is making further prepa ¬ rations to fortify himself in the big stake and it would not be surprising to see him add Sailor to his stable before he leaves here McClelland has paid several visits to Robert McKeevers barn to take a look at the chestnut son of All Gold Bois ¬ terous and it is said that a deal for his transfer Is likely to be made in the near future futureThe The attention of McClelland was first called to Sailor when he worked a mile in 140 recently and while he had to be shaken up a bit near the end of the journey it was his first real trial here over any ¬ thing but a short distance He is a wonderfully improved horse over last year as he ran in claiming and telling races as a twoyearold and even at Jefferson Park the first day last fall he won a race run under claiming conditions conditionsSailor Sailor is a horse that docs not pick his track condition as he has won races in the mud and over a fast course as well as one at New Orleans on a drying out course His last i crfonnance was at the Fair Grounds on February 1 when he won at a mile from Under Fire with an impost of 114 pounds up Three days previous to that he won an allow ¬ ance race at seven and onenaif furlongs in the mud He started only once at Jefferson Park that being In deep going and he won easily The only time he was defeated at New Orleans he finished second to Under Fire and he reversed that verdict the nest time he nifct his conqueror As a two yearold Sailor started thirteen times He won two races was second four tinies and third once His purse winnings totaled 1496 a meager sum compared with many of tu other Derby candidates
