FAIRY THORN WiNS TWICE IN ONE DAY The unusual English incident of a horses winning twice within one hour occurred recently at the Nottingham course. The racer which showed his ability as a repeater was Fairy Thorn, owned by Mr. Bussell Swanwiek. Fairy Thorns first appearance of the afternoon was in the fourth race, a handicap for three-year-olds, at one mile and a quarter." The race was called at 3:30 oclock. Fairy Thorn, a three-year-old chestnut colt, by Cherry King Fairy Wand, with 9S pounds up, and at odds of 10 to 1, won by a length and a half, beating Helix, the strong favorite. The handicap was worth ,500. Just cue hour later was the Elvaston Castle Plate at one mile and three-eighths. Fairy Thorn picked -up 122 pounds and again won by a length and a , half. This time lie started as favorite at 2 to 0.
