WINS KENTUCKY STATE FAIR DERBY LOUISVILLE, Ky., September 11. Clerk, owned by C. Griffin. and ridden by his owner, won the Kentucky State Fair Derby, which event was decided 011 the opening day of the fair. The race was at one and one-sixteenth miles, and the time was 1:50. The finish found the winner two lengths iu front of Iron Queen, while the latter beat Buster Clark the same margin for second place. The other starters were Go Yonder, High Voltage and Bound, and they finished in the order named. The Derby had a value of S400. A mixed program was offered by the fair management, a trotting and a pacing race being on the daily card, as well as a running event. The judges were Congressman Charles F. Ogden, Henry Bell and Ilite I. Bowman; George Reed asted as starter, and C. J. Savage as racing secretary. Congressman Ogden is serving his first term in the house of representatives from the fifth district of Kentucky, and he is an ardent admirer o the thoroujhured horse.
