HUNTING, FISHING AND SPORT Twenty-five of the leading sportsmen of Ocala. Fin., recently formed an organization to be known as the Bonito Fishing Club. The club has purchased Bassey Island, a well-known preserve iu the Gulf of Mexico. The Kaibab Forest in southern Utah is said to be a paradise for those who love to hunt deer. It is claimed that deer are so plentiful there and so tame that they often force mitomobilists to stop their cars until the deer leisurely get out of the way. It is said that the state game commission of Minnesota is planning to establish a wild duck refuge in every county in that state. Already two such refuges have been established, one in Nicollet County of 700 acres, and the others of 1.000 acres, the latter taking in Middle Lake and the former Swan Lake. As early as August 22 large flocks of pintail, teal and mallard ducks could be seen daily winging their way southward along the Platte River iu Nebraska. As that date was unusually early iu the season for the birds to be moving south, it is believed the supply this autumn is going to be much larger than for a number of years. From Tuesday, September 10. and thereafter until December 31. it will be lawful to shoot wildfowl in a majority of the states of the Union, provided one has a resident or non-resident license. Sportsmen, however, at least those worthy of the name, will keep their daily kill well within the bag limit, and by so doing afford ;;ood shooting for every lover of the sport. The Southern Illinois .Fox Hunters Association will hold its annual hunt for four days, beginning October 7. at Ava, 111. Red and gray foxes have been secured for this hunt. Officers of the association are: Joan Burkhart of Marion, president; Charles Greer of Equality," vice-president; AV. R. Turner of Marion, secretary, and Will Burkhart of Marion, treasurer.
