It proved to be another victory for Luctillite, which, showihg his usual high speed, led throughout and at the end was two lengths in advance of Corn Tassel, running within two-fifths of a second of the track record for the mile and an eighth. Lucullites victory was a popular one, he being a well-backed choice- and when Fator came back to the stand he received an ovation from the big crowd. The Oneck Stables Edwina accounted for the first race, which was for -invidon two-year-olds. She ran a good race and Avon vastly. Stonewood was best in tin steeplechase and won accordingly, while Lunetta .-scored the first victory for the stable of J. J. Hallenbeck in some time when she took the measure of the speedy Masked Dancer in the third. Several claims were made after the running of the first race, Edwina. the winner, being retained .by the Oneck Stable for ,500. I-ovcrs Lane II. was retained by her owner for ,750. Jock o tiie Roost was bought in by owner Tighe for ,500, and Dtuisuiidel went, to J. .1. Fitzgerald for ,200. Arrah Go Oils sir-cess in the fifth race made it a double for S. C. Fitzgeriild, the rider of Robert Oliver, has practically confessed he was approached, by an old-- time steenlcehiiso rider to fix the race. "It is the instigators of the deal we wish to gather up," said judge Frank Rrynn. "and wc may be able to do so shortly." A. C. Schwartz, who was one of the stewards, said that he hoped to go considerably further in the matter and get convincing evidence against the instigators. Tlie ruling off of Al Koenigsberg and suspension of jockey McAtee was a stunning surprise to racing folk hereabouts. It is a similar ruling to that against Riley Grannan many years ago at Morris Park when "he was accused of giving money to Fred Tiral for winning a race. "Lueullitc is the horse of tlie year," was the universal opinion of all horsemen after he won the Aqueduct Handicap. "Just a wonderful horse." said .Mr. Morton Schwartz. "Sure he is a grand horse." was his owners remark smilingly. "If he is wily :a good a stallion as he is u race horse lie will do for mt" .
