Gallinule, unlike his sire, Isonomy, is a chestnut, his coat coloring, as in the case of Star Shoot, being derived from his dam, a daughter of the greatest color controller of them all. Hermit. Farimans dam, Belliuzona, is by the rapid-fire Necromancer and his grandam. Hasty Girl, dam or tlie bold Bondigo and the St. Leger winner Kilwarlin. All of you know all about Maid Marian, dam of Polymelus. and also dam of Marian Hood, whoso yearling by Sunstar made 5,000 at tlie recent Saratoga sales, and whose daughter, Sunboiiiiet, won the Kentucky Oaks and Alabama Stakes only a couple of years ago. This also is the family of the Australian champion sire, Grafton, and of Barney Sclireibers lifesaver. Sain. Corcyra is a member of the Old Bald Peg No. C family, so famous in the long ago as the family of Plenipotentiary, Diomed, Phantom, etc. St. Gatiens sire. The Rover, is also a member, but for some time past 111 England it appeared as though the light of the No. family was about to be extinguished; not so. however, in other parts of the world, for the .yaOO.OOO Botafogos sire, Old Man, is a member of this line, as are the Frenchmen Beaurepaire and Beanminet. and Ogden still plays a strong hand 111 this country. Besides those good horses of recent years. Great Britain, Worth, Free Lance and Old Rosebud are all members of this family. Pearmain, Corcyras dam, is by that extra good brood mare sire, Persimmon. It is the simplest task of all in connection witli the breeding of bloodstock, this guessing of the horses which will turn out to be great brood mare sires. Cleopatras dam. Gallice. is a nine-year-old daughter of the splendid brood mare sire Gallinule. His daughters never fail you as producers, and the grandam St. Cecilia is bv 8am s sire, St. Serf, son of St. Simon, and whose dam, leronia, is by the "great brood mare sire.
