Peace Pennant Second, but Cotton Blossom Runs Unplaced Pool Rides Three Winners. ; LEINGTON, Ky., Septcmlier 20. Captain Ral Parrs good colt Blazes accounted for the Breeders Futurity Stakes, worth 1919.sh,018.50 net. with ridiculous ease from Peace Pennant and Lorraine, with Cotton Blossom far back and never dangerous at any time, having begun slowly and failed at any part to show any of the high speed that she hail heretofore displayed in her unbeaten performances. Blazes, on the other hand, showed improved form over iiis preceding race here, for lie dashed into a good lead at once and Robinson took no chances, but allowed him free rein to increase his advantage with every stride. Peace Pennant was iiis closest pursuer during the entire race, with Lorraine heading the others. Cotton Blossoms performance was a distinct disappointment, but she showed symptoms of soreness while going to the post, and though beginning with the others was last in a jiffy. She closed up some ground near the end, but of no great amount. By finishing second Peace Pennant earned for his owner ,781 and Lorraine received !0.50. Bread Man, for finishing in fourth place, took 15. A. B. Hancock, the nominator of Blazes, receives 00, and C. W. Moore, who nominated Peace Pennant, gets 00. Lorraines nominator, former Senator Johnson N. Camden, adds 00 to Iiis portion. In addition to first money "apt. Ral Parr was presented with a handsome silver pitcher and six goblets. The running of the Breeders Futurity was responsible for a record attendance being on hand to view the sport. In addition to the stake feature secretary Shelley had provided an excellent card, and it brought about entertaining racing. The track showed traces of yesterdays drenching and was dull, but improving rapidly as the afternoon progressed. The weather was warm, but excepting occasional rain flurries little rain fell. The social element was conspicuously present and prominent persons from adjacent points contributed largely to fill the club section and private boxes. Jockey Pools rilling was a feature of the final day, that rider scoring with three of his mounts. His opening success came on Stockwell and Avas followed with Friz and High Cost in succession. With High Cost he furnished an upset for that racer under Iiis heavy impost of 124 pounds, was not regarded as good enough to take Blaekie Daws measure, but Pool outgeneraled Dursch on the latter and scored easily. Pool also rode a strong finish on Friz, which, in a measure, contributed to that colts success. Stockwell, his other winning mount, was much the best and won as the rider pleased. LONG-DISTANCE RACE TO PROSPECTOR. The ,000 handicap at a mile and an eighth furnished a victory for Prospector, with Piedrn, winner of the ,000 Lexington Cup Handicap, in second place, and Prospectors stablemate Mistress Polly in third place. The "opening race went to Opportunity after a hard drive to defeat Nobleman, which ran a good race, but weakened slightly near the end. Jockey C. Robinson, who came here to ride Blazes, made it a double victory for the afternixm by piloting Redlainl. Incidentally he hooked up with his nearest riding rival for this seasons honors and outfinished Master Murray. Robinson returned to Maryland tonight. The meeting just terminated exceeded the ex-! pectations of the management and R. L. Baker, who is the guiding spirit of the track here, was highly elated over the results. He stated that the patron-; age was the best ever at this course during the fall term of racing and that the wagering was also in excess of any autumn meeting. This was a field day in the matter of thoroughbred horse breeding, for Arthur B. Hancock, master of Claiborne and Ellerslie Studs, aside from being the breeder of Blazes, the winner of the Breeders Futurity, owns the sire and dam of Constancy, winner of the Eastern Shore Stakes at Havre de Grace today, and lie likewise is the breeder of Iloliey Baker, which finished second in that race. During . the day he bought from J. C. Milam the mare Sum-t ner Night dam of Midnight Sun, winner of the Toboggan Handicap at Havre de Grace, by Star Shoot, and he is the breeder of Crank, a son of Celt, which finished second to Midnight Sun. "To say that I am pleased with the general result of our meeting would be to mildly express my feelings," said manager Robert L. Baker at the close of the day. "I was satisfied that if we did not encounter bad weather we would have a better meeting than we had last fall, but am happy to say that in every respect, taking the daily aver- age for basis of comparison, it approached the last spring meeting. I feel that the public has ex-. pressed its approval by its patronage, and if tin: Kentucky Jockey Club directors sanction my recom-nieiidations, as I believe they will. I can promise the people more grandstand room and the horsemen better stabling for next spring. I am hopeful that every cent of the money we have made this fall will be expended in improvements."
