The uncertainty attending the purchasing of yearlings was never better exemplified than in the case of Collinga, two-year-old daughter of Light Brigade Hindoo Rose, which John E. Madden sold to Commander J. K. L. Ross for 7,500 recently. Last summer Mose Loweusiein purchased this, filly at .the auction sales here for 00 and disposed of her the next morning for 00 to J. C. Milam. An enlarged ankle was responsible for Lowen-steins anxiety to get rid of her and he made vain endeavors to sell her to Kay Spcnce. S. A. Clopton and G. L. Blackford, ne was on the verge of giving her away when Milam happened along and he was saved with only a loss of 00 in less than twenty-four hours. The filly found her way into Maddens establishment, the ankle responded to treatment, and she not only brought u fabulous price, but won a race for Madden.
