BRIXWORTHS INDIA DERBY LONDON, Eng., September 23. The Western India Derby was won recently by the Rai Sahib .Sangidas Jesirams Brixworth from naming Orb and Risen Again, which pair ran a dead heat for second place. Last year in this country Brixworth began by winning four races off the reel for Mr. Bower Ismay, and on the occasion of his first defeat, in the Little Breeders Plate at Warwick, he put up a fine performance, only failing by a length to concede seventeen pounds to Leigh-on Tor. At Newn.arkct he was expected to win the Richmond Nursery, won by Stratford, to which he was giving seven pounds, and in liis only other race, the Daventrv Plate, although Merripit gave him four pounds and a short head beating, he was conceding twelve pounds to Express Delivery, which was only a moderate third. Bred in Ireland by Mr. W. Fenton, Brixworth as a foal was picked up for ?150 bv Mr. Barry at Goffs Dublin sales. Mr. Ismay bought him privately and also sold him in this manner. Brixworth is quite a nice stamp of brown colt by Wildair half-brother by Velocity to Cicero, from Cuptosser, by Cupbearer, and so is in-bred to Hampton.
