AVALANCHE, after racing In close pursuit of the leaders to the last turn, took the lead and kesfc it to the end. BOWSPRIT saved ground on the turns and, closing a gap, cams fast through the stretch. RAFFLES began slowly, but closed a big gap and was going fastest of all at the end. OWASCO had a rough race. MARGARET LORETTA finished well. Won easily; second and third driving. VULCAIN PARK was off slowly, but raced Into prominent contention in the first quarter and was taken under restraint and kept in the best going to the stretch, then passed BANTRY with a rush in the final sixteenth. BANTRY stumbled twice in the first eighth and recovered quickly, then came through on the inside in the deepest going when entering the stretch and raced into the lead, but could not withstand the winners challenge. CONSORT rushed into the lead and set a good pace for three-quarters, but came wide on the stretch turn and lost much ground. The winner, entered for ,000, was bid up to ,800 and bought in. DAYDUE was in closest and game iiursuit throughout, but was unable to improve her position. ORCUS was forced to race wide on the turns and raced gamely under a poor rider, but the leaders held him safe. SEA MINT raced In the soft going all the way. THE PERUVIAN was hard ridden from the start. RECOUNT raced in closest pursuit of tha early leader and, saving ground when entering the stretch, finished gamely, but was held safe by tha leader. WYNNE WOOD, suddenly improved, took the lead on the first turn and, hard ridden all the way, came extremely wide through the stretch and was ridden out to maintain his advantage. EPISODE gradually improved his position and, saving ground on the last turn, moved up rapidly at the eighth post, but could not overhaul the leader. OVERTAKE finished fast and easily outstayed the others. RALCO quite after racing forwardly for three-quarters. BIT O" BLACK ran poorly. SAKAH was in closest pursuit of the leader nearly throughout, but tired and swerved into the re-flest gcti.g when put to a drive.
