RAFFLES began slowly, but closed a big gap and was going fastest of aU at the end. OWASCO had a rough race. MARGARET LORETTA finished well. Won easily; second and third driving. VULCAIN PARK was off slowly, but raced into prominent contention in the first quarter and wa taken under restraint and kept in the best going to the stretch, then passed BANTRY with a rush in the final sixteenth. BANTRY stumbled twice in the first eighth and recovered quickly, then came through on the inside in the deepest going when entering the stretch and raced into the lead, but could not withstand the winners chaUenge. CONSORT rushed into the lead and set a good pace for three-quarters, but came wide on the stretch turn and lost much ground. The winner, entered for ,000, was bid up to ,800 and bought in. DAYDUE was in closest and game pursuit throughout, but was unable to improve her position. ORCUS was forced to race wide on the tnrn9 and raced gamely under a poor rider, but the leaders held him safe. SEA MINT raced in the soft going aU the way. THE PERUVIAN was hard ridden from the start. WYNNE WOOD, suddenly improved, took the lead on the first turn and, hard ridden all the way, came extremely wide through the stretch and was ridden out to maintain his advantage. EPISODE gradually improved his position and, saving ground on the last turn, moved up rapidly at the eighth post, but could not overhaul the leader. OVERTAKE finished fast and easily outstayed the others. RALCO quite after racing forwardly for three-quarters. BIT O BLACK ran poorly. Scratched 65757 Broomf lax, 107; 65517 Chestcrbrook, 105. SAKAH was in closest pursuit of the leader nearly throughout, but tired and swerved into the n-ftest gcti.g when put to a drive.
