GENERAL TURF GOSSIP S. C. Hildrcth had Mad Hatter and Bud Ijorner out Friday morning at Belmont Park and both appear ready for the races. The Quincy Stables Ray Jay is quite for- j ward in condition and trainer James Fitzsim-mons expects him to do well this year. The Glen Riddle Farm Stables high-class racer Oceanic is near racing condition, dis- playing good form in his exercise gallops at ! limlico. Blissful, the filly that races under the colors of the Log Cabin Stable, bucked her ] shins in her race Thursday and will be out of training for a short time. At least twenty-five special trains are scheduled to leave Chicago for Louisville to carry the big throng going to Churchill Downs to see the Kentucky Derby. S. N. Holman made a ten-strike when he purchased Best Pal from E. R Bradley, as that good racer has won seven races and, finished second once in eight starts under the Holman silks. The Lafayette Hotel Purse at Lexington today is in the nature of a Derby trial and should give a good line on the chances of Benjamin Blocks Aspiration with such aa Anna M. Humphrey. Blossom Time and Bo McMillan as opponents. The way H. P. Whitneys Enchantment is galloping at Pimlico is sufficient to set at rest rumors of the gildings having gone amiss, which persisted despite denials of James Rowe. Although no definite announce.TK nt his been made as to the Whitney representatives for the Kentucky Derby it will indeed be surprising if Enchantment is not among the horses shipped to Louisville.
