BRANDEIS SCORES AGAIN Carries Johnson and Rogers Colors to Second Win at Huntington. ♦ Hard Pressed at Bud to Account for Mondays Main Kaee — Weather Showery and Track Muddy. * HUNTINGTON, W. Ya.. April 1J— Bran-deis, carrying the colors of Johnson and Rogers, scored his second success of t lie present meeting when he took the measure of the best field starting at the Fair Grounds this aftcrncon. Although h_ showed the way p-actieally throughout, he was hard pressed near the end to earn the verdict. Old Top barely saved second place from the fast finishing LnvkSM It was a rousi/ -T finish. Once again the races were run over a muddy track. The weather was showery and cold, conseo.uently the attendance was confined to the regulars. A decidedly interesting struggle opened the proceedings, the field racing closely bunched to the stretch. When straightened out for the run home Thomas Piatt closed with a I rush on the outside and was up in the last i few yards to beat Without. Red Pep also | came from the rear to beat the tiring Red out of third place. Cuba Kncanto displayed the most spied until well into the stretch in the second dash. Peter Lee then challenged and drew out! I ; handily in the closing strides. Margarettej Martin saved third place after going well during the early stages. Taking command at once Apres Moi also made every post a winning one in the following race. She was hard pressed, however, in the closing stages to stall off Mary G.. which raced prominently from the start. Motrins held the others safe all through the last eighth. It was only in the final strides that Shamrock Flower got up to nose out Bills Hope in the fourth race, after the latter had shown the way from the start. Josie M. was also a keen factor, but barely lasted to save third from the fast finishing Noko. Showing the way throughout. Bar Light I accounted for the fifth race rather handily. Move On Seth was always in closest pursuit of the winner but was not good enough to beat him. C. T. Worthington made his customary stretch bid but could never get to the leaders. HI Astro won the deciding race with little difficulty after leading by a comfortable margin practically throughout. Bay Dingle made up much ground to beat Tule out for the show money. W. If. Cain claimed Lavinia for ,100 out of the sixth race. W. R. Booker is in receipt of word from secretary W.
