Dick Welles Selections SelectionsAt At Aurora INCOME BLACK AIR SHUFFLE SHUFFLEIts Its a bad lot that are to open the days proceedings and on past performances IN ¬ COME appears to be slightly the best He was given a long rest since the meeting at Dade Park last year and in his first start here last Thursday put up a fair perform ¬ ance to finish third to Fast Mail and Jaune bar He came like a streak through the stretch after being far back The same ef ¬ fort today would find him the winner against this kind of company BLACK AIR finished out of the money in his first start here but was only beaten a little over a length That race was in the mud the kind of going he likes best As this article is being written it is raining at Aurora and in all probability there will be a muddy track for todays rac ¬ ing SHUFFLE is also good in the mud and should be the one to land in the three hole holeDICK DICK FLYING HIGH SHEFFIELD SHEFFIELDThe The second race is given over to the juve ¬ niles and a large field is expected Twelve were entered and very likely eight or nine of these will contest for the purse DICK is our choice here He did some pretty good racing at Akron this spring winning one race and finishing second in another in three starts If he has retained that same form think he should not have much trouble in beating this bunch FLYING HIGH comes from the stable of P T Chinn and is by that good sire High Time The progeny of the latter are usually good in their two yearold form and this one should be no ex ¬ ception She has only made one start to date it being here when she was beaten by Embryo She acted a little green then but the race should have done her much good and we expect to see her much closer up to ¬ day SHEFFIELD showed such an im ¬ provement in her last race that we believe that she will be good enough to take down the show money today todayJOE JOE CAMPBELL KERRY GIRL THE The veteran JOE CAMPBELL has proved to the wiseacres that he is far from being through as evidenced by his two last outs at Akron which were wins He dopes to beat those that will race over the three quarters of the third Track conditions hold no terror for him as he is equally at home on a fast track or in the mud There are others in the race that will make him step but think he will turn the trick KERRY GIRL started off her Aurora career with a win and it was done in a most impressive manner If she races as well today she is apt to cause Joe some trouble She looks like a sure thing for the place THE ABBOT has been threatening to win in his most recent races being close up in all of them Basing on that form he should be the one to save the show showBUCK BUCK POND MISS ROSEDALE CHESTERBROOK CHESTERBROOKA A limit field seems likely for the fourth event there being seventeen entered We think BUCK POND is good enough to take down this purse as he is reported fit and also holds the advantage of having the inside post position He raced against some i good ones at Tijuana last winter and should I not find this company too much for him MISS HOSEDALE was a little short in her first appearance here and can be counted on to show improvement over that race She promises to give the winner plenty of trouble and has but to race as well as her last out to enable her to place again CHESTER BROOK used to ba a pretty shifty sort of a horse and time was when he could beat this same bunch He is not quite that good at present but should be able to last long enough to finish in the third position positionJOHNNY JOHNNY JEWELL GREEN WOODS FAENZA FAENZAThe The Illinois Claiming Handicap to be run as the fifth is the best race on the card and it also offers a chance for a good play This one is JOHNNY JEWELL He finished third to George De Mar and Cross Bow in the Inaugural Handicap and looks like a stand out against this class of per ¬ formers In that race he was leading until well into the stretch when he tired and gave way to the other two mentioned That effort should have served as a tightener and we will be very much surprised if he does not step down in front today Be the track fast or otherwise he is equally as good GREEN WOODS should be the one to chase the winner home basing on her last start In that race she finished fast to take third money The same effort today should be good enough to find her occupying the place position at the finish FAENZA will be mak ¬ ing his first start of the meeting He turned in some should not have much difficulty in plugging the three hole here hereSETTEE SETTEE LEONTES LONDON SMOKE SMOKEStill Still another big field is scheduled for the sixth event We are expecting SETTEE to make amends here for his poor showing in his last two races He has turned in some good moves since his last race and he appears to be in winning condition at the present LEONTES shows nothing on past performances but is said to be nearly ready for a good effort and if in any kind of condition will prove a tough one to beat He met with a mishap in his last race here j or else he might have showed a little better LONDON SMOKE looms as a possible dan ¬ ger in the race His last out saw him running a decidedly improved race over a proceeding start and he led from start to finish If he is in the same mood today he will take plenty of beating before being declared out outGUNSIGHT GUNSIGHT EL ASTRO LADY CHOCO CHOCOIn In the final race of the day GUNSIGHT looks like a good play to prove a repeater j He raced like a good one in his last out and that same effort again today should find him again being the first to greet the judges That win was achieved in the mud but he I can step as well on a firm track EL ASTRO is in good form at the present and a race to his training moves would make him a strong contender He was leading the way home in his last out here when he tired and as a consequence finished among the also rans Since that race he has turned in a couple of good workouts and may be expected to show to much better advantage today LADY CHOCO ran one of her poor races in her ini ¬ tial race here but can do much better Look for her to be much closer up today One Best Bet JOHNNY JEWELL in Fifth Race
