I NEW YORK TURF NOTES t s 4 NEW YORK, N. Y., June 14. Cal Dozier has bought Cross AVord from P. J. Reilly at private sale. The officials at Aqueduct include: Stewards, II. W. Maxwell, Robert A. Fairbairn, W. S. Vosburgh ; stewards representing the National Steeplechase and Hunts Association, H. W. Maxwell; judges, K. C. Smith, G. Cornehlsen ; starter, Mars Cassidy ; racing secretary, Henry C. Pebler. Before the first race Monday Samuel L. Riddles Crusader was worked a mile and an eighth in 1 :54 in preparation for his engagement in the Brooklyn Handicap next Saturday. The handsome son of Man o War and Star Fancy was under restraint all the way, in these fractions: Quarter in :25-, halt in :f075, three-quarters in 1:15, mile in 1:40 and a mile and an eighth in 1:54. Ho was galloped out the final eighth, to finish the mile and a quarter in 2 :10. War Flame has been gelded and turned out temporarily. Peter Fisher was an arrival and resumed riding. He has been at the Sanford Stud Farm recuperating from the injuries he sustained in a fall at Havre de Grace. Son of John will be absent from the races for a while. He has not been performing up to the standard and trainer Bob Smith will give him a short rest. J. P. Loftus has taken first call on the services of jockey J. Heupel for the remainder of the season. Heupel rode in Kentucky and will ride for the Oak Ridge Stable and Joey Levins. Whiskery will be shipped to Chicago today for the American Derby. Trainer Fred Hopkins left last night for Chicago and will saddle the Harry Payne Whitney candidate. Dolan will be shipped today to Chicago for the American Derby. Trainer Tom Healey will ship a division of the Wilson Salmon Stable to Blue Bonnets Thursday. The haltermen were busy in the first race. Andy Schuttinger took Bonnie Belle for ,000, and J. N. Henry took Lawley for a like amount. Both are well bred and should, ,in themselves out in short order.
