At Washington Park One Best Bet SAMARON In the Sixth Eace. A fine program is offered for Wednesdays racing at the Illinois Jockey Clubs course at Homewood, featured by the Dearborn Handicap. This is over the mile distance and brings out a small, but select, field, including such good ones as Barbara, Flat Iron, Cudgel ler, Banton, J. Fred A. and George De Mar. With prospects for a better racing strip for todays sport, this should result in a fine contest. Two-year-olds will meet in the Junior Purse, a five-eighths dash, which caters to some of the better grade of juveniles quartered here. The class of horses contesting in the various races here is getting better each day. There are still more to arrive and, as the meeting progresses, so should the racing improve. With Derby Day not far off, those intending to have starters in the big race are shipping their charges here to acquaint them with their new surroundings. BEARING RETROSPECTION CROSS PLAY. BEARING raced poorly in his only start here, but that showing was far below his true form and should be thrown out in figuring the probable winner of the opening event. He was winner of his only other race and, taking a line through that effort, is able to do much better than his last race made him out to be. RETROSPECTION proved a game winner of his last start and a repetition of that last race should find him giving BEARING the most trouble. CROSS PLAY usually lands close up and .should be good enough to account for some part of the purse today. JOE ADAMS will take plenty of beating and, with weight off today, is a real danger. MADAM EMELIE is inconsistent. COLONEL SETH BREISACHER THE HUGUENOT. COLONEL SETH was in pretty good form when he left New York and, if he races in his best style in the second number, should be the one to cop. A large field is expected to go to the post here and the McAuliffe racer may hold a slight advantage, in that he is a quick breaker. BREISACHER is given second preference on his showing in his last start, when he was an easy winner. THE HUGUENOT has been working well of late and may be good enough to land the show money. SEVENTEEN SIXTY BOGANGERA B. The manner in which SEVENTEEN SIXTY raced in his last start was such to suggest that he is going to be a hard one to beat in the Junior Purse today. He is to carry less weight and, over the same distance of ground, he should show well enough to add another win to his credit. BOGAN, which was graduated in his last start, only has to repeat that last effort to be a keen contender all the way in this offering. GERA B. is evi dently a filly of some class, as evidenced by her last winning race. She is capable of holding the others same fcr the short end of .the purse. PANDALE may bear watching. OVER FIRE MISS ROSEDALE CHINK. The fourth race, at a mile, marks the first appearance of OVER FIRE in these parts. He comes from the Maryland circuit, whero he raced with fair success. In his last start he gave a good account of himself, only losing the decision by a head, and a repetition of that same effort here should find him a hard one to down. MISS ROSED ALiE beat a good band her last time out and may cause OVER FIRE plenty of trouble, if in a running mood today. CHINK seems to be oh the improve and, as such, is given the call for third. KANDUIT may need a race or two to fit her for her best. BARBARA FLAT IRON BANTON. The good filly BARBARA has evidently found her best form and, if she displays the same brand of speed in the Dearborn Handicap as has marked her last two winning essays, shoud add another win to her credit. She meets up with a fast band, but is possibly the best FLAT IRON raced well in his only start here and, taking a line through his best Churchill Downs races, Is the one BARBARA has to beat. BANTON can be relied upon to land in the money, and today should be no exception. CUDGELLER is better suited to the sprinting distances, but may give a good account of himself, nevertheless. SA3IARON ROCKY LANE MISS MEISE. In his present form SAMARON appears to be much the best in the sixth race and, likewise, the best play on the card. He turned in a good performance his last time out, to be home winner by a neck, and he only has to repeat that effort here to turn the trick again. ROCKY LANE showed well enough in his last two starts to give him second preference. MISS MEISE is gradually getting back into her best form and she may be able to land the short end of the coin if she puts forth her best efforts. DAVID L. rates a good chance on his showing in his last start. BANTER is more than due. MAY STEIL STARB RIGHT FOOLSCAP. That last race run by MAY STEIL. should have put her right on edge for todays effort and we are looking for her to prove best in the concluding event This race is over the mile and an eighth route. STARBRIGHT is said to be working well and a race back to his trials should find him close up at the finish. FOOLSCAP only has to repeat his last race to land the small end of the purse. SAGAMOOK is about due for an improved showing. The others do not call for much.
