$ PREPARE F0RNEW LAW SPRINGFIELD, 111., June 14. Preparation to administer the new Illinois racing law, effective July i, were made by S. J. Stanard. director of agriculture, today. The bill became a law Saturday, without the signature of Governor Small. Applications for licenses must be filed June 20, in order to legalize the operation of the tracks July 1. The act stipulates that all licensed race tracks located within twenty-five miles of any city of more than 500,000 population will pay ,500 each racing day as a license fee. Tracks more than twenty-five miles from such cities pay the state ,500 each racing day. In addition, all licensed tracks must pay 20 cents for each paid admission ticket to the state. 4
