The latter tired from his effort in trying to reach the leader, while Aucilla was making up ground at the end and was four lengths in front of Endor. The latter could not make up any ground after his poor start Though a chill wind blew across the center field, making it uncomfortable for those leaving topcoats at home, it was a remarkably good crowd that was on hand to witness the sport. Lady McNeill, from, the RiyerdaJe Stable, after racing for-wardly. held on long enough to save third from the fast-finishing Tippance. The latter was taken up repeatedly in the run down the back stretch, but closed with a good burst of speed when in the clear and was going fastest of all at the finish. A field of the cheapest platers at the track started in the third race, and Leda, a three-year-old daughter of Trojan Alledo, which races" for G. Peterson, was a length and a half in advance of A. Brents Rural Gossip at the end of the three-quarters, while two lengths back of the second horse was the favorite, Golden Locks. O. Brown had Leda away well, overhauled Golden Locks and easily held Rural Gossip safe in the stretch.
