BRILLIANT CANADIAN DEBUT Accomplish Victorious in Capital City Purse at Ottawa. Daughter of Folymellan Defeats Sandhills and Dlgnns by a Length Large Crowd Despite Uncertain Weather. .. OTTAWA, OnU June 14. C; LeRoy Kings magnificent filly Accomplish, a recent, invader from across the border,, and making her debut in racing circles in the Dominion; gave a good account of herself when she scored brackets in the Capital, City Purse, the chief attraction on todays card at Connaught " Park. Accomplish came in for extensive support for the race, which was decided oyer the three-quarters route, and her victory was one of the most popular during the present meeting. There were seven other starters in the main attraction with the" speedy daughter of Polymelian Finis, and keen- interest was manifested as to the outcome of the contest. From a start that found the entire field away in motion, Dignus, as usual, raced into the lead, ,with Accomplish forcing, the pace and Sunsard leading the others by a small margin. Dignus continued to show the way until reaching the stretch turn, but Accomplish had not been asked for her best as yet. Fishman elected to wait until straightened away in the homestretch. Sunsard had retained his position to this point, being unable to close the gap that separated him from the first two. .Straightening out for the finish mark. Accomplish answered tne call of her rider gallantly and, in a brief duel with Dignus, took" command at the eighth post and got to the wire a length in advance. Sand Hills finished in resolute fashion on the outside and, in a furious drive, just poked his nose to the fore of Dignus as the finish was reached. Ugo II. finished fourth, running a remarkably good race with much opposition, and it may be that this one is much better than rated. Sunsard tired in the final drive, while the others were never real factors. DISTINGUISHED VISITORS. Threatening weather failed to have any effect on the attendance, and once again the assemblage was of good size. Lord and Lady Willingdon arrived shortly after the opening race and their presence added a bright touch to the afternoon. Seven juveniles answered the call for the five-eighths dash that ushered in the afternoons proceedings and a keen fought contest came about. It was up to the official placing to determine the finish of the contest when Totara, Partake and Bedford Dream flashed by the winning mark in so close alignment. With the placing of the official sign the verdict was awarded to J. A. Parsons Totara, with Partake second and Bedford Dream accounting for the minor end of the purse. Another tight fit came with the running of the five and one-half furlongs dash of the second race, and the first public choice of the afternoon emerged victorious, when J. W. Beans Rockthorn, carrying the bulk of support, made good in a sinew-straining drive to get a head decision over S. H. Dudleys Lady Glassen, while Thornblossom held the others in the field of eight safe for the minor end of the purse. Commissioner Cahill caused a mild surprise when he was returned the victor in the five and a half furlongs sprint of the third race, after he raced to a hard earned victory over Nimrod. At the end Nimrod was bearing out badly and this enabled Commissioner Cahill to have plenty of racing room and ho was rapidly drawing clear, to score by a length, while a two-length gap separated Nimrod and Ensign for second money. Cut Bush finished fourth after a slow beginning, with the others far back. The fifth race on the program, for three-year-olds and over, brought out a cheap band to travel over the mile and seventy yards route and a surprise came with the running when Harp of Prophecy, favored by a change in riders, raced to his best form, to be winner in a drive from Arsacid by a half-length, while a length back of the pair Quinham, the victim of a bungling rid from Cogan, raced into third place.
