Won easily; second and tUird driving. BENNY RUBIN raced into the lead shortly after the start and. keeping it, easily outfinished SENOR. The latter raced close up from the start and was wearing the winner down slowly. BLACK SEA was prominent throughout and finished well. QUADRILLE raced close up, but was never able to threaten the leaders. BLACKSMITH and LADY ESSINGTON were far back after making a poor beginning. SHEPHERD OF THE HILLS raced in close up pursuit and finished gamely. BREVET raced SPHERICITY into early defeat, but tired badly after toing seven-eighths. VOSnELL sprinted, into a long early lead and saved ground on the turns, but began to tire in the last quarter nnd had to be hard ridden to hold COLONEL CARR safe. The latter raced close up. gained steadily in the last half and was slowly wearing the winner down. VILLAGE Of HIT, outrun early, gained fast in the last half and finished gamely. SUBTLE tired in the stretch. DR. JIGGS ran well. REAL ARTIST ran poorly. BLACK FRIAR set the early pace and raced THE DETECTIVE and ELLA RUFUS into defeat, but could not withstand the winners rush. SOLACE lacked early speed, but finished well. SUNSARD raced into the lead soon after the start and, saving ground where possible, finished gamely. POWHATAN loomed up dangerously when entering the home stretch, but tired near the end. PATRICIA J. was unprepared for the start and was forced to race on the outside all the way and ran a good race. SANDHILLS quit after going a half mile. WORTHMORE was never prominent. DANGER SIGNAL raced closely lapped on the winner for the first three-quarters, then took the lead, but tired in the final drive. GREAT ROCK raced on the outBide for the entire way and finished gamely. WANDERING MINSTREL was outrun from the start. ACCOKEEK and HOI POLLOI raced well.
