BLUE GRANITE moved up fast after going a half mile and, challenging SARKO in the stretch, headed him and, taking the lead, outfinished NANI-HAWAII. The latter also came with a rush through the last quarter and finished gamely. SARKO showed the most early speed and held the lead well to near the finish. MURKY raced up Into second place after going a half mile, but tired when the stretch was reached. LATIIROP aliso tired at the end. Won handily; second and third driving. JOYOUS rushed into the lead quiekly and showed much the most speed for the first half mile, but began to tire and was hard ridden from near the end. SWEEPANOLA raced closely with BONl-YAN to the stretch, then raced the latter into defeat and finished fast. BONIVAN stayed better today, racing close up and finishing well. TRINCESS DOREEN, well managed under a patient ride, followed REPUTATION closely to the stretch, then was somewhat slow in responding when called upon, but gamely wore REPUTATION down In the last fifty yards and won in the last few strides. REPUTATION was away well and set a fast pace to the stretch, then came fast and was only outfinished in the last yard. LOUNGER came wide into the stretch and dropped back considerably, but came fast in the last eighth and finished closely lapped on the leaders. SLIGO BRANCH raced far back for three-quarters, then closed a big gap and finished close, up. CUP BEARER, set a good pace for three-quarters, but tired and barely lasted to outfinish GLORIA QUAYLH.
