WINNIPEG RACING SEASON WINNIPEG. Man., June 20. Silent Weapon, the four-year-old, by James T. Clark Miss La Rue M., just arrived from Omaha, won the Western Canadian Handicap for Western Canadian-breds at Polo Park here on Saturday the opening day for the racing season of 1927 in Manitoba. Twelve went to the post and the winner sprinted in front to finish the mile two and a half lengths to the good. The afternoon was fine although the track was slow after the recent heavy rains. The grounds were packed and all records for opening day went by the boards, both as far as attendance and volume of speculation was concerned.
