His foreman and assistant trainer is an especially capable horseman, and has learned the business from the ground up. He has had entire charge of the stable for a great part of the time in late years. He would be a very valuable man for a newcomer in the business, as ho is an excellent judge of a horse, can train and condition one to the minute, and understands how to place them in races where they can win.
