. LATONIA TURF NOTES f s k LATONIA, Ky., June 20. William Buford has arranged to ship six horses to Raceland the final week of the Latonia meeting. He expects to leave shortly for Lexington to take up a number of horses which have been turned out at J. P. Headleys Paradise Stock Farm. Mary Jane, winner of the Kentucky and Ashland Oaks, will not be a starter in the Latonia Derby. S. Combs, who is in charge of her training, today announced that, barring mishap, her next engagement will be in the rich Latonia Oaks. Combs is giving the filly a brief respite from the rigors of training and she has been given only one short breeze since her Illinois Oaks race. Gareth, belonging to the Island Farm, and M. Shapoffs Orpheus have been fired by Dr. J. H. ODonnell and turned out. E. B. McLeans two-year-old filly Portia, which started in the Illinois Stakes at Fair-mount Park last Saturday, returned to Latonia this morning. Trainer L. K. Rogers arrived from Lexington with the horses True Jean and Mary Gold, the property of Luther Stivers. J. T. Weaver has had his two-year-old filly Ethel J. fired for ankle trouble. Frank Tyler arrived with two horses, Impossible and Tchad, from Columbus, and was granted a trainers license. Jockey Hainesworth and apprentice T. Root were licensed this morning.
