LONG PRICED WINNER Blue Blood Pays 65.10 for . at Washington Park. Chicago Shows Startling Fona Reversal to Account for Blackstone Purse. HOMEWOOD, HI., June 27. Todays Washington Park racing brought numerous surprises, chief of which was the victory of Blue Blood, paying the record price on an Illinois track of 65.10 for a Investment. Her place and show prices, respectively, of 38.40 and 06.70 also constituted record pay-offs. Her good showing was contrasting to her previous performances over this track. Blue Blood was not the only one that showed improvement in todays racing over preceding starts. In this respect Chicago gave a form reversal in. the Blackstone Purse, at a mile. He won in commanding fashion from Moonraker and Dark Phantom in third place. In his last start at a mile and an eighth he was beaten off when ridden by E. PooL Today R. Jones had the mount and he seems to have a faculty for making the colt race in his best style. He came away In tho last eighth to win as his rider pleased from Moonraker, with Dark Phantom, another that failed in his last start under E. Pools handling, winding up in third place. FAVORITES DISAPPOINT. St Valentine had the call in the race, but Dark Phantom, having P. Hebert -as her rider this afternoon, was not minus support ; in fact, had as much as St Valentine. The latter raced closest to Moonraker for five-eighths, but thereafter he was done for and rapidly dropped out of contention. Chicago had been considerable distance off from the leaders for half a mile but steadily began moving up and. In the last eighth, had little difficulty . holding Moonraker, which, under strong urging, held Dark Phantom safe for second place. Todays racing offerings left nothing to enthuse over and brought out big fields in most instances. The racing, however, was spectacular, but the downfall of most of the favorites entailed loss for the big crowd In attendance. H. G. Bedwells Fore Star took into camp the eleven others that started with her at a mile out of the chute. She raced in her best form and easily vanquished the fast finishing Monarchist when the latter made his determined challenge. Following the pair came Basha. The winner stayed close to the early leaders and moved Into the lead with a rush when reaching the stretch. Much was expected of Georgie, a crack of long ago, but he was outrun at all stages and finished in last place. TOFANGO IN FRONT. The second race brought out a band of the lowlier ones at the course, and It resulted In a victory for Topango over Bathildo Seth, with Right on Time In third place. The leading three dominated the running throughout the winner successfully stalling off the determined bid offered by Bathilde Seth during the stretch racing. Violet Betty, expected to be formidable in the race, retired after half a mile. Sandalwood might have been a factor but for beginning slowly and having to race wide most of the way. The Coldstream Stables Little Cyn proved best of the three-year-olds that engaged In the third race, at three-quarters. She was kept far out of it for the first half-mile but when called on, she speedily moved forward and, after a mild brush in the last eighth with Lady Marie, the favorite, came away to win with much In reserve. Lady Marie, after showing the most speed, began tiring and had to do her best to outstay thirteen Sixty. The latter showed a good effort but Joan DAlbret raced disappointingly. The sixth race, which was also at a mile out of the chute, resulted In victory for Scampaway after a hard drive through the stretch in which tho contenders gave way at the end. Frances Rock finished in second place, standing the final drive better than Bonaparte, the early leader. Mini Toddy made a determined bid in tho stretch, but failed to get a portion of the purse. Geo. Groom, which In a preceding start had but scant opportunity to race to his best form on account of interference and poor riding, raced in his best stylo in the final race and won handily from Red Pennant with Token in third place. The winner was a strong contender from tho start and saved ground into the stretch. Red Pennant came right back with a good performance and had little difficulty in outstaying the slow-beginning Token, which was forced to closo an Immense gap in the last quarter to land In third place. R. S. Rogers and W. L. Drake shipped a number to Windsor, Canada, where they will bo raced at the coming meeting there. W. Sims, In chargo of the Pueblo Stable, Is another that will ship his horses to Windsor next Wednesday.
