At Washington Park One Best Bet BLENDED In the Sixth Race. A program devoted almost entirely to the plater division is the offering for Tuesday at the Illinois Jockgy Clubs course, but, with the even class of contestants, some good racing is in prospect. The Sherburne Purse is the outstanding attraction, this being a, five and a half furlongs dash, engaging the juvenile" division. The race should offer sonje sort of a line on the Homewood Stakes, to be. run next Thursday, for many of those which are entered in the stake are to be seen in action in this event Sixteen have been entered for todays race and, while there is bound to be some scratching, the quality of those entered is such that an excellent contest should result BILLY McCARNEY CROSS PLAY D RE ANA LEE. A rather cheap band of two-year-olds meet in the first race of the day, with BILLY Mc-CAItNEY our selection to win. He has been improving more or less with every start and his last race was a particularly good one, when he just missed getting the major portion of the purse by a head. He would only have to repeat that "same effort today to enable him to beat this field. CROSS PLAY has landed the place in three of his four starts here and there Is no good reason why he should not do as well today. Should BILLY McCARNEY fail, we look to this one to turn the trick. DREANA LEE could account for the short end of the purse by racing in her best form. AMBITIOUS may be the best of the others. DUTCH GIRL -FINLAND SHIRAZ. The manner in which DUTCH GIRL performed in her last start was such that she must be given the call in todays second number. In that race she tow-roped the field to win by six lengths and a repetition of that last start should see her landing in front again. FINLAND was also an easy winner his last time out but DUTCH GIRL has a little on the latter in regard to class and we do not look for him to give her a great deal of trouble, though she easily figures second best SHIRAZ and WAPO-NOCA figure next best, with the former given the preference. BIG SWEEP PRINCESS PAW WILD NOTES. There is plenty of speed represented in the three-quarters dash, to be run as the third, with BIG SWEEP tabbed to win. This one Is In his best form right now and with plenty of weight off his last start should be good enough to add another score to his credit PRINCESS PAN has also reached her best condition and only has to race in the same manner as she did in her last time out to be the one to chase BIG SWEEP across the line. WILD NOTES may be good enough to take down the show end of the purse. BANTER may prove troublesome. DAVID L, holds an outside chance HY SCHNEIDER TRUE PAL AMERICAN THUNDER - HY SCHNEIDER is our selection to win the Sherburne Purse. He is a colt of high class and, In his last start just missed by a nose of getting the decision. Today he is to carry eight pounds less and that added advantage is bound to have its telling effect TRUE PAL, on best races, gets the call for the place and he is apt to be a hard one to down if he runs in his best style. AMERICAN THUNDER has yet to win a race, but she is well thought of by her stable connections and would not surprise a great deal by scoring in this event DOMESTICATED must be given consideration on her last winning race. BARBER JOHN, BIRDWOOD, PANDALE and MAY COOPER are others which figure close up. ENGADINE THE WIRE BUNTnORNE. Of those entered for the fifth, at a mile, we favor ENGADINES chances. She does not call for much on her last two races, but a race back to her trials should see her landing in front. She favors the distance and, In this field, should show to good advantage. THE WIRE turns In a good effort every once in a while and he may race well enough today to earn the place money. BUNTHORNE gets the call for third on the strength of his last race. FANNIE J. would be a trouble maker If she repeated her last effort JOE JUNIOR holds an outside chance. BLENDED FOOLSCAP RODEO. The sixth should see BLENDED scoring and we look upon her to be the easiest winner of the day. She has been more or less unlucky in recent starts, always close up, but never able to win. With equal racing luck today, we expect her to win with consumate ease. FOOLSCAP figures closest to BLENDED but should not give her much trouble at that He is well suited to the distance, however, and should hold the others safe for the place end of the purse. RODEO may be the one to run to the show. EXTRA EDITION is possibly the best of the others. BOSH DOROTHY ADAMS BRUMFIELD. The concluding number brings out an evenly matched field of platers to try conclusions over the mile and an eighth distance, with BOSH given the most consideration. She has been showing improvement of late and seems to be about ready to turn in a winning trip. DOROTHY ADAMS showed some of her old-time form in her last start and only has to race in the same manner today to again garner the place money. BRUMFIELD, in his present form, gets the call for third. Should a long shot score, we look for TROMPING TO DAY to be the one to turn the trick.
