RACE LAW EFFECTIVE FRIDAY General manager C. Bruce Head of the Fairmount Jockey Club has perfected all of the necessary arrangements for the conducting of the Fairmount Park affairs to come under the supervision of the department of agriculture, under the provisions of the new racing law which becomes effective Friday. The new law provides a tax of 20 cents on each paid admission. This amount will be added to the cost of admission and paid by the patrons. Of particular interest is that, under state supervision, the percentage deducted from the mutuels will be 6 per cent, and the "breaks" will be on the penny. Under the law, the Fairmount Jockey Club will pay a daily license fee of ?2,500 to the state of Illinois, to be applied to a fund for the promotion of agricultural fairs and educational work of like nature.
